Wit's end or short rope?
A-me called with news that Mr. 7 has been ejected from school again today. He tore off his t-shirt. Ripped it into shreds like some menacing mini me version of the Hulk. Mr. 7 was escorted to the behavioral specialist who was able to get him calmed enough to return to class, where he casually meandered his way over to the electric pencil sharpener. Apparently to gage the inner diameter of dual razor action with his pinky finger.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Fortunately no injuries were reported. Yesterday he was able to keep his shit together until lunch, afterwards he was only able to attend gym class at the end of the day. Things are just sliding down the shit covered hill slicker than the snot seeping out of Mr. 4's nose.
A-me and I have learned that anti-depressants, like one of the medications Mr. 7 is taking, can cause hellacious mood swings, violent mania, and suicidal tendencies in children diagnosed as bipolar. Isn't that just fan-fucking-tastic?

It can also depend on what type of anti-depressant they are giving him. For example, Paxil does well for older people(middle-aged or older), but if you give it to a child or teenager, it has the opposite effect and actually makes them worse.
I hope they find an anti-depressant that suits him the best....and soon, for your sake! Or you could just give him a bunch of xanax and keep him comatose all the time (just kidding)!
Goddamn what a fucking bitch! Man, good luck with that one dude.
It sucks how Half the time if not more, the side effects of meds can be worse than what they're treating..
See, that's why doctors need to learn how to do reversible lobotomies.
Take that shit out till they're done growing and hormoning, and put it back in when they're, say, 25.
I honestly don't know what I would do in your place. It sounds so scary and frustrating. :o(
Has only one doctor diagnosed him as bipolar? I don't know what you've been through in the past with Mr. 7, but this sounds just horrible. I hope you can find what works for him.
Sorry to butt in here, but that does NOT sound bipolar. I'm sure you've had more than one opinion, but maybe they were related or best friends and agreed on a diagnosis, but honey, that does NOT sound bipolar.
Man, that does not sound like fun. Good luck figuring it out and getting through it.
I read this and the previous post and I just don't know what to say. I'm sorry that you (and your son, and his teacher, and his classmates, and probably his classmate's parents) have to go through this. That's just awful. Like Medicated said before me, I hope they find the right meds for him, so he (and everyone else) can cope better.
Meanwhile, your family will be in my thoughts.
*HUGS*
Time to change again, believe me, and remember, therapy is cheap compared to the attorney when you finally flip out.
Seriously, what doctor has diagnosed him as bipolar? I don't understand how kids get that diagnosis, when any damn psychologist knows that you can't get a good enough read on a kid to diagnose them as bi-polar until they are at least 16!! Sorry, my rant is now over.
I worked with kids with all sorts of mental health needs for 6 long years, and I hated when the medications started making things worse. I really hope he starts to feeling better, and things even out for him. :(
btw, i found you on JAG's blog. Your comments on her blog crack me up!
